a simple midi subharmonicon
there's a much fancier and better subharmonicon on gumroad. but i wanted something that was easily live 3 standalone-mappable, with simpler controls, where i understood what was happening.
this is also my first max for live device.
hopefully if you want a rhythm generator of some kind, it can be helpful for you! i also think i've laid it out pretty well if you want to figure out how to make your own stuff (again, though, this is my first one, so YMMV).
How to use:
-The trigger at the top left enables or disables the rhythm.
-The signature knobs on the far left change the time signature. Feel free to use anything from 1/1 to 16/16.
-Note 1,2,3,and 4 are Midi note messages, for your four-note rhythm. Send whatever notes you'd like!
-Velocity and Length control ... velocity and length for every note that's sent out of this. (Velocity is a midi message, length is in milliseconds so 1000 = 1 sec.)
-rhythm knobs all divide the main tempo and control their own tempos. Rhythm 1 and 2 both feed into the same sequencer, so if one is at 1 and one is at 3 (for instance) while the time signature is set to 1/4, you get an interestingly variable polyrhythm that divided cleanly into the overall tempo.
I keep going back and forth on exactly how I want the sequencing and subharmonic parts to work. For now I have multiple versions [including one that's most like the subharmonicon, with four toggleable rhythms, two four-note sequencers, and two subharmonic parts per voice - and which I have edited the push 3 settings to work with]. I'll likely evolve this in some other ways before I 'pick a favorite', so to speak, and consider it really finished. if you have a thing you want it to do, let me know :)
